Ice cream for breakfast? Actually, this smoothie is BETTER than ice cream because it is full of good-for-you ingredients and completely guilt-free!
We’re heading into another hot and sticky day here and another day of temperatures in the 90’s. It’s already too hot to even think of eating anything that isn’t COLD!
Today I made this smoothie with our usual organic yogurt (probiotics!!!)… strawberries we picked and froze, bananas, and orange juice… although other combinations of fruits, berries, and juices are good too.
Ingredients
1/2 cup orange juice
1 banana, cut in chunks and frozen
1/2 cup strawberries, frozen
1/2 cup yogurt
Blend all the ingredients into a smooth consistency. The frozen banana and especially the frozen strawberries make this smoothie very thick like ice cream.
Garnish with a strawberry and enjoy! (Makes two large portions.)
It was delicious! :o)

Delicious looking smoothie!
I eat all kinds of odd things for breakfast. Just because it happens to be your breakfast does not mean you have to eat specifically “breakfast” foods. I often have leftovers from dinner the night before when I get up in the morning. It’s just easier.

I made this with raspberries instead of strawberries and it was delicious. Then I tried blackberries and didn’t like it so much. I have tried the strawberries too and they are great.

Great flavor combination! It’s kind of like drinking a delicious strawberry ice cream.

Where I live, this is sold as “strawberry soup.” the first time I heard the term I thought it sounded awful, because I think of soup as hot…. Glad I was wrong, because this is a wonderful recipe the whole family enjoys!

I am all for ice cream for breakfast! My husband and I guided tours at the great Mammoth Cave for a whole season on smoothie breakfasts. Never had a glitch or felt weak.
