The Joe Pye Weed is just starting to bloom, and the clumps are full of bees. This one is a tricolored bumblebee.
I think it’s interesting how distinctly different individual bees look, even when they’re the same color.
Some are long and thin…
Some are short and round…
And they all just love that Joe Pye Weed!

I bought a joe pyeweed plant last year from a mail-order nursery. My plant has a way to go before it looks anything like the plants in your photographs but I hope it will do well because yours are beautiful.
