Choosing Voluntary Simplicity -- About finding balance in your life, connecting with who you are, and creating a lifestyle where you wake up each morning feeling a sense of fulfillment and excitement about the day ahead.

Some Things I Know About You

As of October 4th, Choosing Voluntary Simplicity has been online for exactly sixteen months. Writing this blog has been an interesting journey that has allowed me to “meet” many of you… my wonderful readers. To celebrate the occasion, here are some things I know about you…

  • During September 2008, you visited Choosing Voluntary Simplicity from 134 countries all over the world, from Ethiopia to Kazakhstan to Denmark to China. Most of you came from the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Australia, Poland, Japan, Germany, and Thailand.
  • From September 1st to September 30th, you looked at 79,820 pages on this blog.
  • You stayed for an average of 201 seconds.
  • In the thirty days of September, 725 of you stayed between thirty minutes and one hour.
  • During those same thirty September days, 675 of you stayed for more than one hour.
  • 85.8% of you are using Microsoft Windows, 10.2% are using a Macintosh, and 1.3% are using Linux.
  • 57.5% of you are using Internet Explorer as your browser, 33.6% are using Firefox, and 4.8% are using Safari.
  • Referrals in September included the Christian Science Monitor, TV station web sites across the country, library, school, and church web sites, and a steadily increasing number of U.S. and international personal blogs and web sites… thank you all so much!
  • You are much more likely to write to me via my contact form than you are to make a comment for publication on the blog. For whatever reason, I receive at least three or four times as many personal messages as comments… but whatever method you use, I very much enjoy the opportunity to read your interesting and insightful messages and comments.

I’m an American citizen living in Japan for the last 3 years. I’m originally from New England and your blog is like a letter from home. My sincere thanks for all your hard work and this wonderful resource.

Comment by Chandelle:

Happy anniversary! I’m probably at least half of that percentage point using Linux. :) I’m so glad to have found this blog.

Comment by Sreekala:

Great job!!! I live in India and your blog is in my “Daily” folder of favorite sites I check everyday…

Comment by K.B.:

I am enjoying this blog very much as well - last year at this time I started on a personal mission to de-clutter the house, and after experiencing how much more clarity and peace it brought, I started to de-clutter other areas of my life. And pushed me to start working on our financial situation as well…as well as emphasizing what’s really important in life. We have pared back expenditures and rarely eat out, etc. Thanks for the ideas and encouragement!

Comment by Marilyn:

I just discovered this blog about an hour ago and I can’t stop reading. It came at the perfect time in my life. I am in the beginning process of simplifiying my life, de-cluttering my home and trying to make the most of everyday. Thank you. I will be back!
