Whole Wheat Raisin Bread
This is a bread machine recipe that was given to me by a friend several years ago. She made a notation at the bottom of the recipe that she likes to use “dry hard raisins” for this, and that bread flour or unbleached flour is preferred because of the higher gluten content. I have made this bread many, many times, and I have used all-purpose flour as well as unbleached flour, and both have worked well for me. I have also used fresh raisins without any problems. This recipe makes an exceptionally delicious raisin bread. Over the years I have made it in several different bread machines, and it always turns out a perfect loaf.
Add the ingredients in the order listed.
Ingredients
1 1/8 cups water
2 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons dark molasses
1 3/4 cups flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup raisins
2 teaspoons yeast granules
Bake on the whole wheat setting of your bread machine.

This is the first recipe I made in my brand new bread machine that made really good bread. This bread is DELICIOUS and your recipe wasn’t hard to follow. I appreciate that because I’m not a cook. It is MUCH better than the recipes in the book that came with the bread machine.

Isn’t this a nice bread? And it’s one of the easiest breads that I make in the bread machine. Thanks for all the nice messages and for trying my recipe.

I tried a couple of recipes, and this one tastes that best by far, the molasses makes it flavorful and dark! My kids loved it.
