“Autumn is the eternal corrective.
It is ripeness and color and a time of maturity;
but it is also breadth, and depth, and distance.

What man can stand with autumn on a hilltop
and fail to see the span of his world
and the meaning of the rolling hills that reach to the far horizon?”

This is so true. Autumn is my favorite time of the year. I love the beauty but also the feeling of reflection and closure that this time of year brings. After a work filled summer it’s almost like nature is giving us to relax a bit and reflect. Beautiful photograph too.

I’ve been reading your blog for several years now and I’m ashamed to admit this is the first time I have written in. I am always impressed with each new post. The information and inspiration I find here has been so valuable to me. You have actually changed my life and my outlook. I am not the same person I was when I first started reading your posts – and believe me – the change has been a positive one. There is no way I can thank you enough for what you have done for me but I did want you to know how very much I appreciate everything you do.

“The eternal corrective”. Many of the oldtimers would agree with those wise words. One crusty fisherman in a small seaside town where I used to live put it very bluntly to a summer tourist when asked, “What ever do you do when we leave?”
His answer? “We fumigate.”
