“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings.
Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees.
The winds will blow their own freshness into you,
and the storms their energy,
while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.”
–John Muir

Talk to me! :o)

I love living in the desert southwest, except for one thing: we have no colorful autumn leaves to enjoy. Growing up in New England I remember annual trips to see the foliage in New Hampshire. I miss that. Thanks for John Muir’s words and a beautiful picture.

Would you believe I have this EXACT SAME verse on a little slate plaque? I bought it at a craftsman fair one summer while we were on vacation because I love the quote. A man was painting verses and quotes on interestingly shaped pieces of slate and other very thin stones and I couldn’t resist buying the John Muir quote. I keep it above my computer in my study and I see it every day. What a nice surprise to see it on your blog! Thanks for your wonderful insight and a great blog. Beautiful photo too.

I miss the fall colors too. We moved to Mississippi 10 years ago and I have to tell you, I don’t miss the cold or snow of New England but I do miss how beautiful it always was just this time of year. I remember thinking that the world outside looked like it was on fire. Your photo captures that for me. Thanks for reminding me of those wonderful memories.

John Muir is a favorite author of mine and I have several of his books. This verse is very inspiring. Thanks for sharing and the lovely fall color!
