“Something wonderful begins to happen with the simple realization
that life, like an automobile, is driven from the inside out,
not the other way around.
As you focus more on becoming more peaceful with where you are,
rather than focusing on where you would rather be,
you begin to find peace right now, in the present.
Then, as you move around, try new things, and meet new people,
you carry that sense of inner peace with you.
It’s absolutely true that,
‘Wherever you go, there you are.'”

Talk to me! :o)

That picture and quote really spoke to me. Thanks for your gentle reminders that life is made to be lived and enjoyed – not stressed over. This blog is great.

Wow wow wow! I *needed* this today. Wish I could actually be in that wonderfully serene surroundings. Love the quote too.

Beautiful! My family made the decision this winter to be content where we are after years of tethered nomadism. Mr Carlson couldn’t be more right about finding “peace in the present”!

This is what I want my life to be. I’m trying hard and this site helps more than you can ever know. You are a great inspiration to me. Thanks so much for all you do. Your British friend Mayelle

‘Wherever you go there you are’ — this is SO true. It is also the reason why you should always take great care in building the person you are INSIDE. Who you are OUTSIDE is going to change over time, but that person INSIDE is going to be with you for the rest of your life. This website is so helpful to me in my journey to simplicity, I doubt you even have any idea of how many of your articles have helped me. Thank you!
